SUMMARY
The driver is responsible for the transportation of elderly and disabled residents of Siloam Springs to their necessary destinations in a safe and timely manner during the business day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Each day prior to driving a Taxi vehicle, complete an inspection of the vehicle on the form provided. Bring any necessary concerns relating to the inspection to the attention of the Administrator’s Executive Assistant or designee immediately. If no concerns, return the inspection report at the end of shift with all related paperwork.
- Pick up and assist riders in a courteous manner.
- Transport public citizens to and from various appointments throughout the day.
- Follow the pick-up schedule issued at the beginning of each day, as well as accommodate ‘add-on’ riders throughout the day.
- Schedule return rides on a first call / first served basis.
- Handle cash and make change as needed.
- Obey all traffic regulations and laws while operating a City vehicle
- Maintain daily log of riders and stop locations as well as monies taken in.
- Bring any necessary concerns relating to maintaining the vehicles to the attention of the City Administrator’s Executive Assistant or designee as soon as they are noted.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Effective verbal and written skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
REASONING ABILITY
Knowledge of traffic laws and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Knowledge of the geographic map of the City of Siloam Springs.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (if required)
Possess a valid driver’s license.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include; close, distant and color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and works near moving mechanical parts.

*Weather Essential position includes employees are declared to be all sworn police officers, all sworn firefighters, dispatchers, emergency road crew employees in the Street Department, and electrical personnel in the Electric Department.

Late arrival, early departure, or other absences from scheduled hours, that are not pre-approved or are excessive are disruptive and are to be avoided.
