We're adding a proposal manager to our team! Our marketing team is a great group of self-motivated individuals with a positive attitude who actively contribute to a wide range of pursuit-related activities. They are responsible for taking the lead and driving projects from a strategy and execution standpoint and must have solid organizational, marketing, and communications skills.
As a Proposal Manager supporting pursuits across the Midwest, you will oversee all aspects of the proposal development process. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and will work collaboratively with corporate marketing and pursuit teams in all markets and divisions. Working hand-in-hand with operations leaders, engineers, and estimators, the Proposal Manager will strategically position our firm to win qualifications-based opportunities.

***Primary Focus:
Proposals - Pursuit strategy and proposal development
Copywriting - Technical Writing
Creative - Visual communication for pursuits and business development material
Marketing Technology - CRM management, analytics and reporting

***What you'll be doing...

  • Collaborating with marketing and technical staff to develop innovative proposals, presentations, and award submittals
  • Overseeing the proposal development process and creating deliverables for project pursuits and interviews
  • Assessing level of effort for pursuits and resource planning with our marketing team and project stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively with members of pursuit teams including: executives, construction managers, estimators, business development managers, engineers, designers, and other internal and external partners
  • Facilitating internal proposal kick-off meetings, milestone reviews and post-submission activities
  • Managing and coordinating pursuit roles, responsibility matrix, work plan, assignments, and deadlines
  • Interviewing technical experts and developing proposal strategy
  • Collaborating with graphic designers to develop visual communications strategy for technical and informational graphics
  • Tracking the collection of forms, information, and data required for each pursuit
  • Coordinating with the pursuit team to obtain necessary proposal information, narratives, technical writing, and other documents required by the Owner
  • Proofreading, editing, and standardizing proposal copy for proper grammar, spelling, comprehension, and style to support a one-voice methodology
  • Assembling proposal documents to ensure all proposal criteria are met prior to the submittal deadline
  • Coordinating and executing print production process and assembly of proposal package
  • Maintaining a wide-range of data via Salesforce, our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
  • Developing and maintaining best practices, templates and proposal style guides
  • Managing a catalog of pursuit materials including: resumes, project descriptions, technical writing, business development collateral, etc.
  • Conducting research, tracking analytics, and present marketing-related reports
  • Coordinating graphic design support and photography needs with internal marketing team members and external vendors as needed
  • Keeping the pulse on company, partner, and industry-wide activities
  • Being our representative to clients, peer organizations, and company events as required
  • Actively sourcing and contributing creative content for marketing use
  • Representing the firm at industry conferences and tradeshows as required


***You're a good fit if ...

  • You have at least 5 years of proposal management experience in the A/E/C industry with an emphasis on qualifications-based and alternative delivery pursuits
  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English or related field
  • You have experience inspiring and managing a team of 3+ people
  • You have a solid understanding of construction and engineering-focused technical writing skills, specifically heavy civil construction
  • You are skilled in the art of interviewing executives, engineers, construction managers, legal, designers, and others to secure information for various writing assignments
  • You are an absolute Rockstar in Adobe InDesign
  • Your visual and written communication skills will knock our socks off
  • You have exceptional attention to detail, organization and active listening skills
  • You're a little obsessed with processes, proofing and error-checking
  • You thrive in both an independent and collaborative environment
  • You’re self-motivated and work well with professionals from various backgrounds
  • You love running analytics and assessing KPIs: reports, hit rates, SWOT analysis
  • You don't sweat it if you need to juggle concurrent projects, with tight-deadlines, across various teams, with minimal supervision. (Basically, you get bored if you're not running around with your hair on fire)

5% - Budget development and marketing planning
