Western Forest Products is hiring a Production Lead to join our Calvert Division in Washougal, WA.

Shifts: Monday-Friday (occasional Saturdays), 6:00am – 3:30pm
Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as well as background checks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety and Environmental Performance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and WISHA safety regulations, WFP Policies, Site Rules, and other best practices with regards to employees and contractors working across the site; and,
- Develop, implement and maintain strategies and processes to obtain ongoing and continuous improvement in operational safety.
Financial Performance
- Provide detailed and accurate reporting information for safety, production, and performance related matters.
Leadership
- Provide direction, guidance and support to production personnel and operators; and
- Foster an environment of recognition and accountability with direct reports.
Operations
- Manage and optimize mill flow during both normal and upset conditions;
- Participate on cross functional teams designed to deliver on and improve carious performance metrics: Safety, Production, Reliability, Costs;
- Maintain performance standards and expectations for various machine centers and operators;
- Coordinate and lead projects as required;
- Lead production crews in a manufacturing or industrial setting; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS
Education and Experience
- Excellent knowledge of wood products manufacturing processes with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
- A strong personal commitment to safety and the safety of others;
- Strong understanding of OSHA and WISHA safety regulations;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
- Lumber grading certification with knowledge of coastal grades and species is an asset;
- Post-secondary education in Wood Products Processing, Forestry, Commerce, or Manufacturing is an asset;
- Safety certifications are an asset;
- Experience in a lead or supervisory role; and
- Engineered wood products or Glulam manufacturing experience is an asset.
