ABOUT THE POSITION

Rockwood is seeking an experienced, highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently and within a team. The Human Resources (HR) Manager will provide sound, thoughtful advice to leadership, from the CEO to Project Managers and supervisors on HR best practices and make data-based recommendations to changes in policies and compensation (salaries and benefits) of the workforce. This person will have a strong ability to partner with multiple lines of business on HR needs and requirements. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Serve as principal HR advisor to the company leadership team on matters of human resources, including industry trends, new policies/laws and best practices
  • Maintain a repository of employee skills
  • Implement and administer HRIS including data entry, QA and reporting -- Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, project transfers, performance reviews, and metrics
  • Continuously assess strength of company culture and make recommendations for enhancement or improvement
  • Oversee compensation and benefits plan administration; conduct employee benefits survey; lead annual health benefits open enrollment process
  • Manage and continuously assess effectiveness of employee performance assessment process
  • Execute continuous improvement of the professional development process; apply best practices
  • Implement and manage a Learning Management System
  • Manage mandatory compliance training program
  • Manage employee awards and bonus program (spot awards, achievement awards, annual bonus program)
  • Actively participate in developing and updating company vision, strategy and other corporate initiatives
  • Consult with legal counsel on personnel matters, as appropriate
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure firm's compliance with federal, state and local employment regulations
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Develop and maintain corporate Health and Safety Plan
  • Validate payroll, in partnership with finance team
  • Conduct salary benchmark studies
  • Manage I-9 records compliance and records
  • Review and update Employee Handbook
  • Manage and execute Employee Onboarding and Offboarding processes; conduct exit interviews
  • Manage and execute employee engagement events, such as social gatherings, All Hands and volunteer events; conduct annual employee engagement and culture survey and associated analysis and recommendations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in a Human Resources or related field or equivalent
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP
  • Located in the National Capital Region and able to attend multiple meetings per month in person and execute all day onboarding events as new hires join the firm
  • At least 7 years of HR Generalist experience in employee relations and benefits administration
  • Previous experience supporting a federal government contractor, ideally a growing small business that provides professional services
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms, such as iSolved and GovConPay and implementation of such tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree
  • SPHR Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience managing HR needs of employees in multiple states
  • Experience transitioning a company to be over 50 employees
  • Experience in supporting a company with over 50 employees

Salary Range: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000. Your salary may vary within this range depending on a wide range of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
