A School Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) opportunity is available at an early childhood school in San Jose, CA. This contract position is designed for an individual comfortable working onsite with a specialized student population. The role is full-time during the school year, offering a structured schedule with some flexibility.
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language support to 25-27 students diagnosed with moderate to severe autism.
- Work primarily with non-verbal students who use AAC devices or tablets for communication.
- Collaborate with the schools speech-language pathologists to implement therapy plans.
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapeutic techniques accordingly.
- Maintain detailed documentation and communicate effectively with school staff and families.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Experience working with children diagnosed with moderate to severe autism.
- Comfortable and skilled in working with non-verbal students using AAC devices.
- Ability to work onsite in San Jose, CA, with availability Monday through Friday, approximately 8/8:30 am 4/4:30 pm.
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability skills to meet the diverse needs of the student population.
