Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a 457-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
  • Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-procedure, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, AKI/CKD, and patients requiring fluid resuscitation or blood products
  • Max RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5, acuity dependent
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Floating required to all facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates unwilling to float should not apply
  • No on-call responsibilities for travelers
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
  • TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Trauma and stroke experience required
  • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, 24/7 Charge Nurse, IV/VAT Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist, and ED Physicians
  • Orientation includes general hospital new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking available
  • Candidate's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
  • First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
