Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of a 457-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-procedure, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, AKI/CKD, and patients requiring fluid resuscitation or blood products
- Max RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5, acuity dependent
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required to all facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates unwilling to float should not apply
- No on-call responsibilities for travelers
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Trauma and stroke experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration
- Epic EMR experience
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Department support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, 24/7 Charge Nurse, IV/VAT Team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist, and ED Physicians
- Orientation includes general hospital new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available
- Candidate's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
- First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
