Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Program: Childrens Day Program (12 years-21 years old)
Location: Huntington
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: 12-month school schedule. Monday- Friday 8am-3pm, or 830am-330pm (no weekends)
Pay:
o Bachelors: 46,000-$73,500.00
o Masters: $51,000-$84,000.00
About Us
We are committed to providing exceptional educational and therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities. Our Children’s Day Program serves children aged 5 years to 21 years, laying the foundation for lifelong learning, independence, and success.
Your Role
As a Special Education Teacher at DDI, you’ll support students ages 12–21 with developmental disabilities through individualized, goal-driven instruction. In a collaborative team setting, you’ll help students build communication and life skills in a structured, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement age-appropriate IEPs.
· Deliver engaging, play-based instruction that promotes cognitive, motor, and social-emotional development.
· Foster a warm and nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
· Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams (e.g., speech, occupational, physical therapists).
· Monitor and document progress, adapting teaching methods as needed.
· Conduct assessments and participate in team meetings.
Requirements
· Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Special Education or related field
· Certification: NYS Certification in Special Education Students with Disabilities
· Experience: Preferred experience working with children with developmental disabilities
Skills:
· Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
· Creativity, patience, and adaptability
· Understanding of early childhood development and special education best practices
· Team-oriented mindset
