Job DescriptionShape precision parts at a modern facility in Buffalo Grove, IL

Imagine stepping onto a spotless production floor for night-shift operations, where tight-tolerance plastic components are built with consistency and care. As a Precision Plastics Injection Molding Setup Technician, you’ll drive reliable start-ups, fine-tune processes, and keep automated cells running at peak performance. This is a direct-hire role in a high-precision manufacturing environment equipped with advanced molding machines, robotics, and automated inspection.

What your night looks like

You’ll review the job plan, complete a mold changeover, set machine parameters, and verify first-article quality. With each run, you’ll monitor performance, make data-driven adjustments, and document results in SAP (or a similar system). Throughout the shift, you’ll work alongside auxiliary equipment and robotic take-out systems to sustain repeatable, world-class quality.

Core impact

  • Execute mold set-ups and changeovers, including color changes and machine start-ups
  • Operate and adjust injection molding equipment to maintain tight tolerances
  • Interface with automation, including 5-axis and 6-axis take-out robots
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and vision systems
  • Troubleshoot issues such as shorts, flash, splay, color variation, and dimensional defects
  • Conduct basic preventive maintenance on molds and auxiliary gear
  • Record production activity and process changes in SAP or comparable manufacturing software
  • Adhere to all safety, cleanroom, and quality procedures

What you bring

  • At least 2 years of hands-on injection molding or mold setup experience
  • Proven experience with mold changes, set-ups, and processing adjustments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
  • Comfort lifting up to 50 lbs and standing through 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to read blueprints and confidently use micrometers and calipers
  • Basic math skills and computer literacy
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred background

  • Experience in medical molding, precision plastics, or cleanroom operations
  • Exposure to robotic take-out systems and/or in-mold sensors
  • Experience with SAP or TMS
  • Familiarity with lean/5S methodologies

Materials and tools you’ll work with

  • Engineering materials: Nylon 6 (PA6) and Nylon 66 (PA66)
  • Injection molding platforms: Arburg, Engel, Sumitomo, Milacron, Nissei, Toyo, Sodick
  • Inspection equipment: calipers, micrometers, gauges, and vision systems

Why you’ll love it here

  • Direct-hire, full-time position with a stable employer
  • Cutting-edge facility featuring cleanroom production and automated inspection
  • Work with advanced robotics and precision molding technology
  • Competitive compensation plus a 10% night shift premium
  • Medical, dental, vision, and PTO
  • Training and clear advancement pathways
  • 2-2-3 night schedule that delivers more days off each month
