Imagine stepping onto a spotless production floor for night-shift operations, where tight-tolerance plastic components are built with consistency and care. As a Precision Plastics Injection Molding Setup Technician, you’ll drive reliable start-ups, fine-tune processes, and keep automated cells running at peak performance. This is a direct-hire role in a high-precision manufacturing environment equipped with advanced molding machines, robotics, and automated inspection.
What your night looks like
You’ll review the job plan, complete a mold changeover, set machine parameters, and verify first-article quality. With each run, you’ll monitor performance, make data-driven adjustments, and document results in SAP (or a similar system). Throughout the shift, you’ll work alongside auxiliary equipment and robotic take-out systems to sustain repeatable, world-class quality.
Core impact
- Execute mold set-ups and changeovers, including color changes and machine start-ups
- Operate and adjust injection molding equipment to maintain tight tolerances
- Interface with automation, including 5-axis and 6-axis take-out robots
- Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and vision systems
- Troubleshoot issues such as shorts, flash, splay, color variation, and dimensional defects
- Conduct basic preventive maintenance on molds and auxiliary gear
- Record production activity and process changes in SAP or comparable manufacturing software
- Adhere to all safety, cleanroom, and quality procedures
What you bring
- At least 2 years of hands-on injection molding or mold setup experience
- Proven experience with mold changes, set-ups, and processing adjustments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
- Comfort lifting up to 50 lbs and standing through 12-hour shifts
- Ability to read blueprints and confidently use micrometers and calipers
- Basic math skills and computer literacy
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred background
- Experience in medical molding, precision plastics, or cleanroom operations
- Exposure to robotic take-out systems and/or in-mold sensors
- Experience with SAP or TMS
- Familiarity with lean/5S methodologies
Materials and tools you’ll work with
- Engineering materials: Nylon 6 (PA6) and Nylon 66 (PA66)
- Injection molding platforms: Arburg, Engel, Sumitomo, Milacron, Nissei, Toyo, Sodick
- Inspection equipment: calipers, micrometers, gauges, and vision systems
