Our client is a vertically integrated manufacturing and warehousing organization supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands. Their operations include co-manufacturing and third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships, with a strong focus on inventory accuracy, process discipline, and operational excellence within regulated manufacturing environments.
Position Summary
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for implementing, executing, and sustaining all physical inventory movements and system transactions within a manufacturing and 3PL environment. This role ensures alignment between physical inventory and system records through accurate transaction execution, cycle counting, root cause analysis, and strong process compliance.
The Inventory Coordinator serves as the primary owner of inventory integrity across production, warehouse, and external logistics partners, with a strong focus on ERP and WMS accuracy, FEFO stock rotation, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Execution
- Execute all physical inventory movements including receiving, put-away, production picking, transfers, adjustments, and shipping coordination.
- Perform and manage inventory transactions within ERP and WMS systems, ensuring real-time accuracy of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Act as the main point of contact for inventory execution with co-manufacturing partners and 3PL warehouses.
Cycle Counting & Inventory Accuracy
- Develop, execute, and maintain cycle count programs across raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods.
- Investigate, document, and reconcile inventory variances.
- Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives to address inventory discrepancies and prevent recurrence.
- Perform inventory adjustments in accordance with internal controls and approval processes.
System & Process Compliance
- Enforce compliance with SOPs related to inventory handling, transactions, and documentation.
- Audit ERP and WMS transactions daily to ensure alignment with physical activity and production execution.
- Lead inventory transactions related to production picking, staging, consumption, and returns.
- Ensure proper FEFO (First Expired, First Out) inventory rotation across warehouses, production areas, and logistics partners.
Inventory Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Prepare and distribute accurate inventory reports, including on-hand balances, aging, holds, and transaction history.
- Serve as a key point of contact for inventory-related inquiries, providing clear and data-driven responses.
- Communicate inventory risks, discrepancies, and constraints proactively, including potential impacts to production or fulfillment.
- Partner with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to ensure inventory data alignment across systems.
- Support audits, reviews, and meetings by providing inventory documentation and variance explanations.
Audit & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain audit-ready inventory records and documentation at all times.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Finance, and external partners to resolve inventory issues.
- Identify systemic risks impacting inventory accuracy and recommend process, control, or system improvements.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing, co-manufacturing, or 3PL environment.
- Hands-on experience executing inventory transactions in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Experience working with WMS platforms and third-party logistics providers.
- Strong understanding of inventory controls, cycle counting, and reconciliation processes.
- Demonstrated experience leading root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food, beverage, CPG, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of FEFO/FIFO inventory management principles.
- Experience supporting audits and financial inventory reconciliations.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement exposure.
