Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
Title: Outpatient Oncology Nurse
Location: Brandywine, MD 20613, United States
Salary: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
Schedule/Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (full-time salaried role)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Oncology Nurse to provide high-quality outpatient care, support physicians, and ensure efficient patient flow. This role requires expertise in infusion therapy, strong clinical skills, and the ability to mentor and guide less experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities:

Assess and monitor patients using appropriate clinical and technical skills under physician supervision

Assist physicians with exams and procedures

Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and manage central venous access devices and other delivery systems

Maintain accurate documentation of all patient care and communicate relevant information to physicians or mid-level providers

Triage patient and family phone calls and document relevant information in patient charts

Provide patient education and assess patient/family needs

Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA guidelines for handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and bloodborne pathogens

Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing through ongoing education and professional development

Serve as a mentor/preceptor to less experienced nurses and provide guidance as needed

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times

Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-
2 years of nursing experience
-
Proven infusion skills, including accessing implanted ports
-
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
-
Current CPR certification
Preferred Skills:
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
-
Strong experience in oncology nursing
-
Current or pending Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification
