Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school-based Registered Nurse (RN) role is available to provide essential health services within a K-12 educational environment located in Kirtland, NM. This contract position runs through the current school year, ending May 29, 2026, offering the opportunity to serve multiple schools as a Lead Nurse supporting student health and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Lead Nurse overseeing Health Aides on campus
- Provide first aid and basic health care to students and staff
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with directions
- Support students managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
- Maintain accurate documentation of health office visits, medication logs, and immunization records
- Assist with student health screenings and contribute to IEP/504 plan support
- Respond promptly and effectively to health emergencies
- Collaborate closely with school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers
- Travel between 23 schools within the district as needed
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Experience working with children or in school health settings preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Must successfully pass background check and fingerprint clearance
- Bilingual skills in English and Navajo (Din) highly preferred
- Familiarity with IEPs, individualized student care plans, and school health regulations including FERPA is advantageous
