Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Passenger Experience and Communications, the Transportation Research Analyst I is responsible for performing basic data management and analysis tasks under close supervision. Focuses on data collection, entry, simple validation, and preparation of routine reports for San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission (SJRRC), which owns and operates the ACE commuter rail service, and San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA), which is the policy-making body and administering agency for the Gold Runner intercity passenger rail service. Incumbent can learn agency-specific tools, datasets, and reporting standards and has an intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Tier one, entry-level role focused on foundational data tasks. Works under close supervision to collect, validate, and maintain datasets while learning agency tools and reporting practices. Produces basic charts, reports, and survey support materials. Decision‑making is limited and guided by established procedures.
Tier two independently performs more complex data analysis, integrating multiple datasets to produce meaningful insights. Develops dashboards, conducts forecasting, prepares advanced reports, and presents findings to internal and external stakeholders. Provides guidance to tier one staff and contributes to process improvements. Works with moderate autonomy.
