Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years ICU RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity for a Registered Nurse with ICU expertise to provide critical care across multiple hospital settings within a 60-mile zone centered around Colorado Springs, CO. This contract role involves floating across various intensive care units including MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU, offering a dynamic and diverse clinical experience.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required.
  • For first-time travelers: 3+ years ICU experience plus Epic electronic health record experience.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Competency in titrating critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin.
  • Comfort with reading and interpreting telemonitor strips independently.
  • Flexibility and willingness to float across different ICU units and stepdown or telemetry units as needed.

Location Overview:The role is based in a vibrant healthcare zone around Colorado Springs, CO, encompassing five diverse hospitals ranging from urban to community settings. This area offers a unique blend of mountain views, cultural attractions, and outdoor activities. Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert critical care nursing with 1:1 to 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratios based on patient acuity.
  • Respond effectively to high acuity patients requiring advanced modalities such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella.
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists and assist with respiratory management including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen.
  • Adapt to variable schedules made by leadership with 7 am to 7 pm shifts, including weekends (6-9 shifts per 6-week cycle) and potential holiday rotation.
  • Participate in a one to two-day, unit-specific orientation with a preceptor.
  • Maintain professional attire with flexible scrub colors.

Additional Details:

  • No home base facility; consistent floating within Zone 1 is mandatory.
  • Must secure housing enabling feasible travel across the 60-mile radius.
  • Week of orientation requires in-state presence; some first-day modules may be remote.
  • Charge nurses generally do not take patient assignments except in night shifts when necessary.
  • Rare call or standby duty during low census periods.
