Join a specialized Neuro Cardiac Medical-Surgical/Telemetry team providing expert care in a dynamic hospital setting. This 13-week contract opportunity offers a challenging and rewarding role working 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM) at a well-equipped facility known for its strong clinical standards and supportive environment. Located in Newburgh, Indiana, this position demands highly skilled Registered Nurses with robust neuro and cardiac telemetry experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care to complex Med/Surg/Telemetry patients including post-cardiac caths, CVA/TIA, ICD management, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and neurosurgical post-op cases.
- Conduct neuro assessments using NIHSS, dysphagia screening, and telemetry/12-lead EKG interpretation.
- Initiate and titrate drips such as insulin, cardiac medications, and heparin.
- Perform heart catheter recovery protocols with femoral and TR band care.
- Float within skill set to nearby campuses as needed with appropriate notice.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation utilizing EPIC electronic health records.
- Collaborate actively with a welcoming team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Current active compact RN license.
- AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications.
- Minimum two years strong Tele/Med-Surg experience including at least one travel assignment.
- Experience in trauma level II setting.
- Recent EPIC charting experience.
- Charge nurse experience preferred.
- Skilled in NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, Tikosyn administration, and chest tube care is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking and neuro assessment skills required.
- Ability to manage change well and work resiliently in a fast-paced environment.
