Venesco is recruiting a Physical Therapist to work at Lyster Army Health Clinic, Fort Novosel, AL. Your expertise can truly make a difference in the lives of those who serve our country!
Hours: Clinic hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Will work an eight-hour shift within this time frame Monday through Friday, plus a 45-minute unpaid lunch.
Duties:
The contractor shall perform medical examinations and treatment of all illnesses that pertain to the specialty of Physical Therapy. The quality of medical practice shall meet or exceed the standards of professional practice for the health care provided as determined by the same authority (AR 40-1) that governs military medical professionals in the same discipline and as specified below.
The contractor shall provide a full range of outpatient Physical Therapy Practice services within the scope of privileging by LAHC.
Patients with appointments shall be evaluated and treated within 30 minutes of their appointed time. All patients scheduled shall be seen before the end of the official closing time of the MTF.
The Physical Therapist shall provide physical therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and interventions services for patients seen by providers within the Military Health System, as well as those referred by civilian providers.
The Physical Therapist shall serve as PT clinical consultant for other health care professionals concerning patient-specific treatment approaches.
The Physical Therapist shall perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors.
The Physical Therapist shall request diagnostic test(s) as medically indicated utilizing the automated Health Information Systems (HIS).
The Physical Therapist shall render a diagnosis for each patient.
The Physical Therapist shall provide indicated treatment for each complaint.
The Physical Therapist shall in complex or distress cases, provide medical care, summon the appropriate specialist when deemed necessary, and continue medical management as necessary.
The Physical Therapist shall prescribe and dispense medications as indicated by the diagnosis and medical condition utilizing the automated Health Information System (HIS). The Physical Therapist is only permitted to prescribe prescriptions that are approved through credentialing. This is a non-inclusive list of some allowable prescriptions: Analgesic Balm, Dexamethason Injection (non-invasive; clinic use only), Ibuprofen, Lidocaine 1% injection (clinic use only), Naproxen, Piroxicam (30 day supply, no refills), Meloxicam (30 day supply, no refills) and Methocarbamol cyclobenzaprine (30 day supply, no refills).
The Physical Therapist shall verify the content and correctness of all recorded entrees and transcribed reports by affixing his/her, own signature and stamp to all copies of the document validating its contents. All records/reports must be legible and complete. All attempts should be made to complete the outpatient records on the same day the patient is seen, however, the record must be completed within 72 hours.
The Physical Therapist shall fully utilize the organization's primary HIS, providers perform Order Entry from the clinical module. Through electronic ordering, various clinical functions facilitating patient care are accomplished, such as; laboratory, radiology, and pharmaceutical services; documenting of clinical notes, coding, and administratively capturing workload data. Order Entry is distinguished according to credentialed, licensed, practitioners recognized health care provider signature class/authority.
The Physical Therapist is required to evaluate a minimum of 4 new patients per day, and carry a daily schedule of 13 patients, which does not include telephone consults. Workload can be increased at the discretion of the commander or his designee.
Requirements:
Degree/Education: Doctorate Degree. Entry-level physical therapists must be graduates of a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Completion of professional coursework in the specialty area such as Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS).
Experience: Two years of experience within the last three years as a physical therapist.
Life Support Certifications: Contract workers shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or other approved certifying body emblem. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
Licensure/Registration: Contract workers requiring licensure shall have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license specific to the position (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) in one of the 50 US States and/or territories. Additional licenses held by a provider must be in good standing whether they are inactive, expired, or limit the provider’s practice to a military setting. The healthcare provider’s license(s) must remain current, valid, and unrestricted throughout the duration of the contract worker performance on the contract.
