About This Role
Hope Montessori Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Part-Time Afternoon Teacher Assistant to join our school community. This position supports our classrooms during the afternoon by helping children transition through the end of their school day, supervising outdoor play, assisting with snacks, and creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment until dismissal. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a meaningful impact in just a few hours each day.
What You'll Do
- Assist teachers in supervising children during afternoon classroom activities and outdoor play.
- Help maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.
- Support children during afternoon routines, including snack, toileting, handwashing, and transitions.
- Encourage children's independence while offering guidance and support as needed.
- Build positive relationships with children through patience, kindness, and respectful communication.
- Help prepare classrooms the following school day by cleaning, organizing, and sanitizing materials.
- Ensure classrooms and playgrounds remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate professionally with teachers and families during afternoon pick-up.
- Follow all health, safety, licensing, and school policies.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to provide consistent, high-quality care for every child.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with young children is preferred but not required.
- Montessori experience is a plus; willingness to learn is essential.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Warm, positive, and patient with young children.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors.
- Must successfully complete required background screenings and meet state licensing requirements.
