We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead the preparation, review, and delivery of competitive estimates for roadway construction, asphalt paving, and site development projects. This role plays an essential part in developing accurate bid packages, evaluating project risks, and ensuring estimating standards are maintained across the organization. - Review and interpret plans, proposals, specifications, RFPs, and all project documents required for developing complete and accurate estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare detailed cost analyses and reports as required by management.
- Review labor, equipment, and material costs to produce comprehensive bid packages.
- Develop estimates from conceptual, schematic, and final drawings.
- Produce final contract estimates, primarily for asphalt paving and roadway/site development projects.
- Evaluate project risks and incorporate appropriate cost considerations.
- Identify potential construction challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Recommend value engineering alternatives where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing estimates for asphalt paving and/or roadway construction projects.
- Experience preparing bids for DOT or similar public-sector roadway projects ranging from $1M to $25M.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
- Proficiency with HCSS or similar estimating software.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt laydown operations and roadway construction means and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
