The Capital Strategy & Financial Planning Analyst plays a key role in that mission by driving the financial strategy behind our infrastructure expansion and long-term growth. This role partners closely with executive leadership and operational teams to develop forward-looking financial plans, optimize capital investments, and ensure we are making smart, data-driven decisions that support our communities and our future.
This position is responsible for leading capital planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis, and for providing insights that guide how and where we invest. From network expansion to operational improvements, this role ensures that our financial strategy aligns with our vision of delivering reliable, cutting-edge connectivity to underserved areas.
Role & ResponsibilitiesCapital Planning & Strategy
- Lead the development of annual and long-range capital investment plans that support Mainstream’s growth and mission
- Partner with Operations and leadership teams to evaluate capital needs, ROI, and project prioritization across network and infrastructure initiatives
- Build and maintain financial models to assess investment opportunities and support strategic decision-making
Financial Forecasting & Reporting
- Own quarterly and annual capital forecasts, including variance analysis and performance tracking
- Monitor capital spend across projects, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and adjustments
- Deliver executive-level reporting with clear, actionable insights that support leadership decision-making
Capital Analytics & Dashboard Development
- Support the development and enhancement of capital dashboards to increase visibility into financial and operational performance
- Identify key performance indicators that drive successful capital project execution
- Collaborate with Business Intelligence and PMO teams to ensure data is accurate, automated, and aligned with business needs
- Translate complex data into meaningful, easy-to-understand insights
Capital Governance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with capital policies, accounting standards, and internal financial controls
- Oversee project approval processes, capital tracking, and audit readiness
- Manage the full lifecycle of capital projects—from planning through closeout
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to operational leaders, helping guide investment decisions that impact our customers and communities
- Collaborate across teams to align financial planning with Mainstream’s broader business goals
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in capital finance or FP&A within the telecommunications industry (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Experience supporting large-scale capital projects (fiber, network infrastructure, wireless, or similar)
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Expertise in capital accounting and project financial controls
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite is a plus
- Experience supporting long-range financial planning and strategic initiatives
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
