We are seeking a well-rounded and experienced Human Resources professional to join a collaborative, service-focused and highly regulated organization. This role will serve as a trusted partner to the Human Resources Director, operating with a high degree of independence while supporting day-to-day HR operations, compliance, and recruitment initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, practical HR experience, and the ability to build trust with leaders and associates. Once fully onboarded, this individual will help create capacity for the HR function to focus on broader strategic initiatives while ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across core HR responsibilities. This position is fully on-site in Northwest New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, partnering with leaders to understand staffing needs and effectively screen and identify well-aligned candidates
- Serve as a trusted resource to managers and associates, emphasizing strong customer service, responsiveness, and relationship-building
- Support employee relations, performance management, investigations, and disciplinary processes
- Administer and manage leaves of absence, accommodations, and related compliance matters
- Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and internal policies
- Review payroll for accuracy and serve as a backup for payroll processing when needed
- Support benefits administration and employee questions related to eligibility and coverage
- Utilize HRIS tools to maintain records, reporting, and process efficiency
Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a regulated or service-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative HR team
- Strong understanding of employment law, employee relations, leave management, and compliance practices
- Sound recruiting judgment with the ability to assess candidate fit beyond technical qualifications
- Technology-savvy with comfort learning and optimizing HR systems (UKG experience a plus, not required)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- SHRM-CP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the first year
- Professional presence, strong work ethic, initiative, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving
Work Environment
This role is primarily onsite in Northwest New Jersey, with typical hours of 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM and flexibility to extend the workday when needed to support business needs. The team operates best in a collaborative, onsite environment, with remote work capabilities available as needed (e.g., inclement weather).
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $75,000–$85,000
