Nutrition Services Manager

Location: Brooklyn Center, MN
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: Monday - Friday (8 hours)

About the Role:

The Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the district's nutrition program. This includes menu planning, regulatory compliance, team supervision, food safety, budgeting, procurement, and community engagement. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role ensures students receive nutritious, appealing meals in a safe and welcoming environment, while managing a high-performing team across multiple school sites.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee and coordinate daily food service operations across district schools to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality.

· Ensure full compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program guidelines, Minnesota Department of Education standards, and local health regulations.

· Develop student-focused menus that meet nutritional guidelines, accommodate special dietary needs, and support wellness initiatives.

· Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate nutrition staff while fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and collaboration.

· Uphold food safety and sanitation protocols, including implementation of HACCP standards and routine equipment maintenance.

· Manage department budgets, financial reporting, cost controls, and state/federal reimbursement claims.

· Oversee purchasing, inventory management, vendor relations, and catering for school and district events.

· Identify and secure grant funding; manage associated reporting and compliance requirements.

· Partner with families, administrators, and school nurses to support students with specific dietary and medical needs.

· Maintain accurate documentation, including compliance audits, production records, and USDA/state reporting.

· Support district sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives within food service operations.

· Respond to urgent or emergency food service needs, including occasional after-hours responsibilities.


Qualifications:


Required:

· High school diploma or GED

· Nutrition-related technical degree

· ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification

· Valid driver's license

· Strong knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, and food safety practices

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

· Budgeting and financial management skills

· Effective leadership and communication abilities

Preferred:

· Registered Dietitian (RD) credential

· School Nutrition Association Certification (Level 3)

· Experience managing K-12 food service programs

· Familiarity with USDA meal programs and special dietary accommodations

· Training through the Minnesota School Nutrition Association

· Understanding of UFARS codes and reporting requirements
