We are looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our team in Bangor, Maine. In this role, you will handle critical admission processes for patients receiving services at the hospital while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This is a long-term contract position that requires exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills to provide outstanding patient experiences.


WED/THU 7:00A-3:30P, FRI 4:30A-5P, SAT 7:00A-7:30P , Part of paid on-call rotations on weekends after training


Responsibilities:

• Accurately assign medical record numbers (MRNs) and perform medical necessity checks to ensure compliance with hospital policies.

• Provide clear instructions to patients, collect insurance details, and process physician orders while maintaining high customer service standards.

• Meet designated point-of-service goals and contribute to achieving organizational benchmarks.

• Conduct pre-registration tasks, including inbound and outbound calls, to gather demographic and insurance information and discuss financial responsibilities with patients.

• Explain and obtain signatures for general consent forms, treatment forms, and other required documentation, ensuring patients understand their rights and responsibilities.

• Verify insurance eligibility and input accurate benefit data into the system to support billing processes and ensure claims are processed efficiently.

• Proven experience in customer service roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.

• Strong administrative skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proficiency in data entry and the ability to manage multiple systems effectively.

• Familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical compliance requirements.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and their families.
