Job Title: Mental Health Therapy Aide
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Pay Rate (Local): $24.60/hour
Position Summary
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Therapy Aide to support a Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit in an acute inpatient setting. Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, this role provides direct and indirect patient care, supports therapeutic activities, ensures patient safety, and helps maintain a structured, age-appropriate, and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care with minimal supervision in an acute psychiatric setting

Monitor, record, and report patient vital signs accurately and timely

Assist with patient admissions, documentation, and physical examinations

Collect specimens and monitor patient intake and output
-
Safely transport patients within the facility as needed

Orient patients to unit rules, routines, and daily schedules

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene and personal care
-
Communicate patient behaviors, observations, and data promptly to nursing staff
-
Establish therapeutic relationships under nursing supervision and engage patients in structured activities

Intervene appropriately during crisis situations to support patient safety
-
Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
-
Apply age-appropriate clinical and psychological interventions
-
Perform required safety checks during assigned shifts

Observe and report patient responses to treatments and interventions

Document care accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
-
Support unit operations and nursing leadership as needed
Required Qualifications
-
Current CPR certification
-
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience
-
Prior psychiatric experience required

Ability to perform patient care duties with minimal orientation and supervision

Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
-
Two (2) or more years of relevant experience
-
Prior inpatient psychiatric experience
-
Pediatric or adolescent behavioral health experience
