Title: Automation Engineer
Location: hybrid in Roanoke VA
Salary: $95k-$110k + Top Tier benefits
Requirements: 3+ years in control systems and automation engineering including PLC,HMI, SCADA development in either energy, manufacturing or water/wastewater industries. Ability to travel up to 40%.
Position Overview
We are a leading provider of cutting edge automation solutions, customized control systems and services across a wide range of private and public sectors. Due to growth we are now seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at our Roanoke VA facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to enhance manufacturing processes and improve operational efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of automation systems and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation solutions using HMI, PLC, and networking technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation systems into existing processes.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of automated systems to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in automation systems to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Create and maintain documentation related to automation processes, including system designs and user manuals.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in automation technology to recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, Associates + equivalent professional experience considered.
- Proven experience in automation engineering with a focus on HMI, PLC, and networking.
- Knowledge of controls engineering and experience with Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Modbus.
- Understanding of process control and instrumentation principles. Experience with on site commissioning and system startup.
- Experience in systems integration within manufacturing, utility and energy sectors.
- Knowledge of UL 508A standards and panel design is a plus.
- Experience in municipal water/wastewater systems is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
