Special Education Teacher Life-Skills Classroom (Non-Verbal)

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in a life-skills classroom setting for a non-verbal 18-year-old student. This classroom has two additional support staff members, but the teacher will be primarily responsible for managing the class independently. The ideal candidate will have experience working with non-verbal students and a passion for providing individualized support and education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Special Education Endorsement required.
- Experience working with non-verbal students is preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Ability to manage a classroom independently while working effectively with support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement personalized educational programs for an 18-year-old non-verbal student in a life-skills classroom.
- Create a structured, supportive environment that promotes independence and skill development.
- Collaborate with two additional support staff to ensure effective learning and development.
- Modify teaching materials to meet the students specific needs.
- Monitor and assess the students progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and school administration regarding the students progress.
- Ensure compliance with all special education regulations and guidelines.
