General Purpose:
In an effort to allow for the best patient care results, the Dental Assistant primarily assists Dentists with primary patient care services.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists pediatric dentist with treatment and care of dental patients
- Offers chairside assistance to dentists for patient care services and other dental procedures
- Serves as a primary point of contact for patients upon introduction and entry to the dental clinic
- Provides dual customer service efforts to the dentist and to dental patients
- Expected to have dental set-up ready when dentist enters room
- Performs special treatment procedures in the areas of Pediatric Dentistry including operatory procedures at childrens hospital
- Delivers and manages patients use of Nitrous Oxide
- Sterilizes and prepares all dental instruments, equipment, and other materials for daily use
- Completes daily spore tests, cleaning, x-ray processing equipment, and dental evacuation traps
- Capable of disinfecting and pouring impressions

Education or Formal Training:
- Dental assistant certification. BLS Certification
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a pediatric dental assistant in a clinical setting is required.
Knowledge, skill and ability:
- Ability to interact positively and build rapport with pediatric patients and their families, coworkers and/or external contacts.
- Ability to work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate the capability to effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDEs diverse patient population.
- Customer service skills, including the ability to diffuse upset patients.
- Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internet and MS Office Products.
- Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of patient, employee and business information.
Material and equipment directly used: Enters patient data into computer via use of EMR database system, general dental instruments and equipment, x ray technology, computer, printer, multi-line telephone systems, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, and all Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel and the internet.
Working environment/physical activities: Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters data into computer programs via computer, mouse and keyboard. Moves about the office environment and occasionally to other locations. Moves/transports objects up to 25 lbs occasionally. Communicates information to others. Discerns/analyzes information from others to assist in decision making.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
We offer a competitivehourly range of $22.62 - $26.50 depending on your experience.
This range reflects STRIDE’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, specialty, and training.
