Position Summary
Universal Healthcare & Serenity Pathways is seeking a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to provide advanced clinical services within our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
The LICSW will serve as a clinical leader within the programconducting assessments, guiding treatment planning, providing individual and group therapy, and supporting interdisciplinary care coordination across levels of care such as outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP). These structured treatment models are commonly used in SUD programs to provide individualized, step-down care and ongoing recovery support
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, SUD evaluations, and risk screenings
- Diagnose substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders (DSM-5)
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based approaches:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Relapse Prevention
- Trauma-informed care
- Deliver crisis intervention, safety planning, and stabilization support
Program & Clinical Leadership
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to LMSWs, LGPCs, and other staff (if applicable)
- Support program development and ensure alignment with SUD best practices
- Participate in case conferences, utilization reviews, and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Ensure delivery of person-centered, recovery-oriented care
Care Coordination
- Coordinate services with:
- Medical providers and psychiatrists
- Case managers and peer recovery specialists
- Hospitals, detox programs, and community partners
- Facilitate referrals to higher or lower levels of care (detox, residential, IOP, outpatient)
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation (assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries)
- Ensure compliance with:
- Medicaid/insurance requirements
- State behavioral health regulations
- HIPAA and confidentiality standards
- Support audits, quality assurance, and accreditation readiness
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- Active LICSW license in the state of practice (in good standing)
- Minimum 23 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or SUD treatment
- Experience working with substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based SUD treatment modalities
- Ability to work within an EHR/EMR system - InSync
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IOP, PHP, outpatient, or MAT programs
- Prior experience providing clinical supervision
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing and documentation standards
- Experience with trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
