Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage daily financial transactions and support our accounting processes. This role is responsible for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), certified payroll, sales tax filings, and billing for new construction projects. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements
- Accurately calculate and file sales tax as required by state and local regulations
- Handle new construction billing, including AIA billing formats and draw schedules
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and team members regarding billing and payment inquiries
- Prepare reports and summaries for management as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting clerk, or similar role
- Proficiency in Sage 50 and Microsoft Outlook
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan is a plus, but not required
- Strong understanding of certified payroll and new construction billing practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the construction or skilled trades industry
- Knowledge of AIA billing formats and job costing
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus
