Provide advanced nursing care in a specialized 16-bed neurology unit focused on stroke recovery and post-operative brain, neck, and spine surgeries. Situated in Appleton, WI, this role is based at a regional medical center known for comprehensive neurological care. Appleton combines a vibrant community atmosphere with access to cultural, recreational, and educational amenities, making it an excellent place to live and work.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to post-stroke, trauma, and neurosurgery patients
- Manage patient workloads with typical ratios of 1:4 alongside skilled nursing staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement care plans
- Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for accurate and timely documentation
- Float within the facility and branch out to affiliated centers within a 60-mile radius as needed
- Adhere to holiday rotation and weekend shifts every other week
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse with WI RN or compact license
- Minimum 3 years RN experience, with at least 1 previous travel contract
- Strong preference for ICU or Intermediate Care Unit experience
- Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Recent experience charting with EPIC is strongly preferred
- Skilled in managing neurology and post-op spinal/brain patient populations
Schedule:
- 12-hour day/night variable shifts (0530-1800 days; 1730-0600 nights)
- Open to candidates interested in straight night shifts
- 36 guaranteed hours per week during contract duration
- Orientation includes 8 unbillable hours; GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation or unit closure holidays
Contract Length: 13 weeks, with an immediate start available.
