Founded in 1992, InServ is a full-service industrial contractor working in the life science, advanced manufacturing, and food and beverage industries. We specialize in four trades (mechanical, hygienic piping, HVAC, and electrical, instrumentation and controls), working from multiple locations across North Carolina and for clients across the Southeast. InServ is both a knowledgeable and reliable partner for our clients. We assist with design, adhere to schedules, and execute with the highest quality to provide a total solution.

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused professional to lead mechanical maintenance and installation activities in a fast-paced operational environment. This role is responsible for coordinating work crews, ensuring high-quality execution of mechanical tasks, and supporting reliable equipment performance across the site. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on mechanical expertise, proven leadership ability, and a commitment to safe, efficient operations.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day mechanical work activities for assigned crews or contractors.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor maintenance, repair, and installation tasks to meet operational priorities.
  • Inspect equipment, systems, and completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues on equipment, machinery, and related systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documents to guide work execution.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Track work progress, materials, labor, and job status, and provide updates to leadership as needed.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including proper use of tools, equipment, and protective gear.
  • Train, coach, and support team members to maintain productivity and workmanship standards.
  • Assist with scheduling, resource allocation, and planning for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

What You Bring

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial equipment repair, fabrication, or a related technical field.
  • Prior leadership experience guiding mechanics, technicians, or maintenance crews.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, troubleshooting methods, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation.
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality, reliability, and timely completion of work.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing, construction, utilities, mining, or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
  • Technical certification, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent hands-on training in a mechanical trade.
  • Experience supporting shutdowns, turnarounds, or major maintenance projects.

Why Join Us

  • Opportunity to lead important mechanical work that supports operational success.
  • Collaborative team environment that values safety, accountability, and craftsmanship.
  • Chance to develop your leadership skills while making a direct impact on equipment reliability.
  • Competitive compensation and a workplace committed to continuous improvement.
