A contract opportunity is available for an experienced registered nurse with MedSurg skills in Winston-Salem, NC. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a Level 1 Trauma Designated teaching hospital with 885 licensed beds, known for its robust Chest Pain and Stroke Centers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients on a 20-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit, caring primarily for medical patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, kidney, liver, GI, respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, wounds, and occasional surgical cases.
• Perform assessments and interventions including tracheostomy care, chest tube management, IV starts, wound care and dressing changes, wound vac management, drain care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line blood draws.
• Administer non-titrating drips such as Heparin, Lasix, Protonix; experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone is a plus.
• Collaborate with a team including CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and residents.
• Use EPIC EMR system, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing equipment.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years MedSurg experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
• Current RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Strong clinical skills with trachs, chest tubes, cardiac rhythms, IV therapy, and wound care.

Schedule and Work Environment:

• Shift: 06:30 AM 07:00 PM.
• Weekend rotation every other weekend.
• Holiday coverage expected for 50% of holidays.
• No on-call required.
• Orientation with New Employee Orientation and 2 shifts on unit.
• Free parking provided.
• Royal blue scrubs required.
• Working in a teaching hospital environment with 24/7 support from hospitalists, residents, and respiratory therapy.
