Impact Summary:
As a Sheet Metal Technician IV, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high operational standards of our defense contracting projects by performing expert-level fabrication, modification, and repair of sheet metal components. This position demands a high level of technical skill and problem-solving abilities to execute complex assignments and ensure compliance with precise specifications. Your work will directly impact the functionality and safety of equipment critical to national defense initiatives.
Responsibilities:
· Perform repair, fabrication, modification, and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies based on limited or broad instruction sets, including oral directions, rough sketches, or drawings.
· Work closely with engineers and scientists to resolve technical challenges, ensuring that all modifications and installations meet stringent quality requirements.
· Plan and estimate resource requirements for projects, including manpower, materials, facilities, and equipment.
· Coordinate the activities of various skilled trades involved in project execution to optimize processes and quality.
· Occasionally perform specialized aviation welding tasks as needed.
· Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures in the workshop environment.

· Proficiency in using and maintaining tools and equipment specific to the sheet metal trade.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
- This position requires a United States Security Clearance to a minimum level of SECRET.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 6 years' experience in sheet metal work, specifically in repair, fabrication, and modification.
- Supporting travel install tasks (travelling 25% for aircraft installations)
- Welding Experience (Aircraft Certification not required) but maybe preferred
- Familiar with composite layups and repairs
- Demonstrable experience in working directly with engineering staff to resolve technical issues.
- Skilled in multiple trades, with a focus on the coordination required for specialized project segments.
- Aircraft modification experience.
- Able to locate aircraft locations using waterlines, butt lines, and frame stations.
- Familiarity with aircraft grade hardware (solid rivets, Hi-loks, Dzus fasteners, etc.).
- Experienced in the use of measuring tools (scales, dial calipers, etc.)
- Experienced in the operation of pneumatic rivet squeezers, rivet guns/ bucking bars, torque wrenches, drills, etc.
- Ability to accurately use/interpret mechanical drawings/ blueprints
- Able to stand, kneel, or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Proficient in the use of fall protection equipment.
- Experienced in wet sealing applications of hardware, antenna mounts, etc.
