Job Description
We are seeking a manufacturing engineer who can keep up with our fast-paced, hands-on, and value-driven manufacturing team. In this role, the ideal candidate will work effectively with management, manufacturing technicians, fellow engineers, and suppliers to support manufacturing process improvements, quality assurance initiatives, production planning, purchasing, and shop operations. This position combines technical problem-solving with practical, hands-on manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities:
Improving Manufacturing Capabilities
- Assist in developing and improving production capabilities
- Support implementation of new processes, tooling, fixtures, and equipment
- Help evaluate and improve manufacturing equipment utilization and capacity
- Assist with introduction of new materials, processes, and technologies
CNC Programming & Machining Support
- Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines in a production environment
- Assist with CNC program development and optimization using CAD/CAM software
- Support machine setup, tooling selection, and first-article verification
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements to ensure quality and efficiency
- Maintain safe and organized machining practices in alignment with shop standards
Quality Assurance
- Assist with inspection, measurement, and quality documentation
- Support corrective and preventive actions for quality issues
- Help maintain quality standards and procedures
- Work with operators to resolve nonconformance issues
Production Planning
- Assist with job routing and production planning
- Monitor job progress and help resolve bottlenecks
- Support scheduling to meet customer delivery requirements
- Help improve workflow and shop organization
Purchasing
- Assist with sourcing raw materials, tooling, and supplies
- Work with vendors and suppliers
- Monitor inventory levels and help prevent shortages
- Support cost control and purchasing documentation
Operations Support
- Assist with day-to-day shop supervision
- Help coordinate between engineering, production, and management
- Support machine setup improvements and standard workflows
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Assist with time studies and process documentation
- Support tooling and fixture improvements
- Help standardize best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production engineering,
- 3-5 years of manufacturing industry experience
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experienced utilizing CAD/CAM software
- Experienced programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines and various shop equipment
- Excellent knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes
- Proficient understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing theory and application (GD&T)
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop documents such as blueprints, quality documents, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedural instructions
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products
- Exhibits a self-driven character and overcomes challenges with a positive attitude
- Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Possess strong skills in the following: verbal, listening, written, and non-verbal communication
- This position requires a team-oriented individual who can collaborate with other machinists, assemblers, engineers, and logistics personnel to meet production requirements
- Must be adaptable to changing environment, competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
- Interest in continuing to develop a professional career in manufacturing
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with developing and manufacturing engineered products requiring CNC machining, welding, assembly, and inspection
- Experience with Fusion 360
- Experience with SolidWorks
- Experience with NetSuite
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance
- Work for up to 10 hours in elements such as hot/cold warehouse/shop environment
- Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage
- Exposure to noise and warehouse elements
- Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety-toed shoes, safety apparel, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for tasks
