Full-Time – 40 Hours/Week
Wage: $110,970.63 - $161,663.26

About the Role

The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager provides clinical and administrative leadership at Compass Health’s Mukilteo Evaluation & Treatment (E&T) Facility, a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit serving adults in acute behavioral health crisis.

This position is responsible for day-to-day facility operations, including staff supervision, quality assurance, and clinical oversight of nursing services. Working under the supervision of the Director of Inpatient & Health Services, the Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager ensures high-quality care delivery, promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, and supports a multidisciplinary treatment team. This role also participates in the 24/7 on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce all applicable building, health, fire, and safety standards within the facility.

  • Ensure that all assessments and treatment plans comply with agency guidelines and state regulations.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive operational and clinical improvements.

  • Assist the Director with budget development, monitoring, and implementation of policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with leadership to implement quality improvements based on client outcomes, satisfaction data, and other key metrics.

  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff in coordination with leadership and People Support Services (PSS).

  • Conduct regular supervision and annual performance evaluations for all nursing personnel.

  • Oversee nursing schedules, timecards, and payroll accuracy.

  • Prepare for and participate in all reviews conducted by licensing or accrediting bodies.

  • Ensure appropriate utilization management of services delivered within the facility.

  • Provide consultation and support to staff in clinical and operational decision-making.

  • Participate in regular team meetings and staff supervision.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Compass Health policies, and professional standards of conduct.

Program-Specific Responsibilities

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and provide emergency nursing coverage or support as needed.

What You Bring

  • Current Washington State or Nurse Licensure Compact RN license required.

  • Must qualify as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) per WAC standards.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

  • 3 years of psychiatric nursing experience and 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.

  • Current First Aid & CPR certification and Food Handler’s permit, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License, vehicle, and appropriate insurance.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to manage complex cases and provide direction in high-acuity environments.

  • Exceptional communication, organization, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to maintain composure and a solution-focused mindset in challenging situations.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and general computer applications.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, which may include a DSHS search.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

The employee will work in an acute psychiatric care setting and must be able to physically participate in managing aggressive or unpredictable behaviors from patients. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and use close vision. The noise level is typically moderate to loud.
