Position Summary

Fusion is seeking a Strategic Planning Specialist to support future-focused mission planning, capability assessments, adaptive planning, and risk-based decision support for a high-visibility federal mission. This role develops strategic roadmaps, analyses of alternatives, and mission flexibility options while coordinating closely with internal leaders and external mission partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support strategic planning processes that assess and implement new approaches to improve operational needs, decision support, and future capabilities.
  • Develop future strategy roadmaps that capture capabilities, dependencies, vulnerabilities, and long-term engagement requirements.
  • Execute risk assessments and analyses of alternatives to support mission flexibility, adaptive planning, and leadership decision-making.
  • Support pre-mission and real-time planning functions, including modification analyses driven by dynamic threat or intelligence information.
  • Develop decision-support aides, feasibility assessments, and recommended courses of action for leadership review.
  • Provide recommendations on national and defense policies affecting continuity, mission requirements, and related operational responsibilities.
  • Represent mission equities in interagency and interbranch coordination forums and communicate operational or technology needs to partner organizations.
  • May perform additional mission-aligned duties as required to support program objectives.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree in strategy, public policy, emergency management, engineering, national security, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience forming new processes, conducting strategic assessments, and developing strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in risk analysis, capability gap assessment, decision support, or strategic roadmap development.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear options, tradeoffs, and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Strong writing, briefing, and stakeholder engagement skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with adaptive planning, continuity planning, or mission-essential function analysis.
  • Background supporting interagency review boards, policy coordination processes, or proof-of-concept testing


Security Clearance Requirements

  • Candidates must have an active TS to be considered.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SCI access and SAP eligibility/indoctrination as required for assigned duties.


Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed onsite in secure government facilities in the National Capital Region.
  • Work schedules may include coverage between 0500 and 2000 Monday through Friday, with evening, weekend, and holiday support as mission requirements dictate.
  • Short notice travel within and outside the continental United States may be required based on operational needs.
  • Employees must comply with installation access, badging, operational security, and classified material handling requirements at all times.
  • Role requires comfort with ambiguity, evolving scenarios, and the need to frame actionable options from incomplete information.
  • This position supports a high-visibility federal mission and is expected to remain fully compliant with customer security, access, and performance requirements.
  • Applicants should be prepared to provide evidence of active clearance status and relevant experience supporting government or defense organizations.
