RATE: $40-42HR
Expediter – Complex Procurement for Large Capital Projects (Onsite Mon–Thurs, Remote Fridays)
Start Time: Flexible (6:30 AM – 8:30 AM)
Travel: None
PPE: Not required
TWIC: Not required
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Expediter with deep experience supporting large capital projects—typically multi‑million‑dollar in scope—across complex PCE, electrical, and mechanical materials.
This is not a basic PO‑tracking position. The ideal candidate has true expediting experience, meaning they have driven complex orders forward, navigated delays, escalated issues appropriately, and ensured critical materials were delivered on time to support major project milestones.
This is a high‑impact role with significant visibility. The Hiring Manager is being deliberately selective due to the project’s critical nature.
What You’ll Do
- Expedite large-scale capital project materials (multi‑million‑dollar scope) involving PCE, electrical, mechanical, rotating equipment, instruments, and other technical components.
- Drive complex orders forward by asking targeted questions, challenging suppliers when needed, and eliminating roadblocks.
- Manage and track critical-path procurement items tied to project deliverables, commissioning activities, and milestone deadlines.
- Escalate supplier delays proactively and collaborate with engineering, construction, procurement, and site teams to fast‑track resolutions.
- Monitor supplier schedules, fabrication progress, inspections, documentation, and logistics for high‑value orders.
- Use SAP and Excel to maintain accurate expediting logs, status reports, and risk notifications.
- Communicate updates clearly using the STAR method, ensuring stakeholders have actionable information.
- Take full ownership of assigned orders from kickoff through delivery, inspection, and closeout.
What We’re Looking For/Critical Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of TRUE expediting experience
- Must include:
- Complex procurement
- High‑value technical equipment
- Multi‑million‑dollar capital project experience
- Driving suppliers—not just tracking POs
- Proven ability to independently manage and expedite materials tied to major project schedules.
- Strong examples of problem‑solving, risk mitigation, and escalation leadership.
- Ability to explain work processes using STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- SAP experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Associate degree or equivalent experience required)
- Experience with EPC firms, industrial sites, energy/chemical facilities, utilities, or heavy manufacturing capital projects.
Must-Have Soft Skills (Non‑Negotiable)
The Hiring Manager requires these competencies to be demonstrated clearly during interviews:
Ownership Mindset
Runs the work independently, drives actions, and holds themselves accountable.
Proactive Planning
Anticipates risks, asks the right questions early, and prevents delays before they occur.
Advanced Problem Solving
Provides clear examples of issues they have identified and resolved on complex orders.
STAR‑Based Communication
Must communicate using:
Situation → Task → Action → Result
Inability to do this is an automatic disqualifier.
Who Will Not Be a Fit
Candidates who simply track purchase orders.
Candidates with no experience on large capital project procurement.
Candidates unable to articulate their actions using STAR examples.
Candidates without direct expediting experience will only be considered if they can clearly articulate how they would manage complex, high‑value orders AND demonstrate exceptional ownership and problem‑solving ability.
