The Brookland Dog Walking Company (BDWC) was established in 2012 and operates in NE Washington D.C. serving people with all ages, personalities, and breeds of dog. We have a small but growing team of people who love dogs and to be active outdoors with them. We offer dog walks, pet sitting, and now training services. All training is Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive/ Positive Reinforcement.
About the Job
The Dog Walker I will be responsible for conducting dog walks for our clients as scheduled. Our clients are spread out throughout upper NE DC, so walkers must have a vehicle to get from appointment to appointment in a safe and timely manner in all kinds of weather.
The walker will be passionate about working with dogs of all sizes and shapes and being outside. They are committed to making every appointment on time every day, so our clients know they can rely on us as caretakers for their dogs. A dog walker is also responsive to changing schedules and client requests, is reliable with their time management, and is friendly but professional when they meet clients.
This is a position with growth potential as the company continues to grow and evolve. The Walker I can move up to Walker II, and III, with additional responsibilities.
This position is expected to take around 20 hours a week, mostly between 10am and 3pm.
The Walker will report to the Field Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Reliable personal motor vehicle is required (car, truck, or van), with current driver's license and proof of insurance
- Available at least 20 hours a week between 10 am to 3 pm Mon-Fri
- Minimum 1 year experience walking dogs or working with dogs professionally
- Skilled with using Google Maps and navigating in DC
- Excellent time management skills with demonstrated experience in managing a complex schedule
- Experience using Time to Pet (preferred)
- Ability to remain calm and patient in difficult and frustrating situations
- Ability to be flexible with changing conditions and schedules
- Honest in immediately communicating issues or errors that occur

Perks
- Hourly pay
- Starting pay is $18/ hr while training (up to 90 days), and then $19+/ hr based on performance
- Additional incentive pay for working before 9 am, after 5 pm, on weekends, or on holidays
