Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar (Traveling PM)

TLC is growing fast and expanding our footprint across multiple states. With several new utility-scale Solar and BESS projects onboarding, we are hiring a Project Manager who is ready to travel, lead from the field, and help us execute complex civil scopes nationwide.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of utility-scale Solar and civil construction projects across multiple states.
- Serve as the full-time traveling Project Manager, overseeing on-site operations and returning to Houston during breaks in project schedule.
- Directly manage subcontractors, ensuring performance, safety, scheduling, productivity, and quality.
- Oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout, including schedules, budgets, cost tracking, and daily reporting.
- Maintain and enforce structured processes, client reporting requirements, and documentation standards.
- Partner closely with field leadership, Superintendents, and office staff to keep project delivery aligned with client expectations.
- Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
- Lead multiple projects up to $15M+ and ensure each is delivered safely, on schedule, and within scope.
Required Experience
- 5+ years experience as a Project Manager in civil construction, utility-scale Solar, renewables, or heavy industrial.
- Proven experience managing subcontractor-heavy project scopes.
- Successful track record leading multiple projects in the $10–15M+ range.
- Strong understanding of civil scopes: mass excavation, foundations, site prep, utility installation, access roads, trenching, SWPPP, etc.
- Highly organized with the ability to follow and maintain structured processes, detailed reporting, and client requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel full-time to job sites, sometimes for extended periods.
- Must be Houston-based (or willing to relocate) for in-office collaboration between trips.
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility-scale Solar EPC or GC experience.
- BESS, Substation, or power infrastructure experience.
- Proficiency with project management platforms (Procore, Primavera, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and an ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Safety-first mindset with familiarity in QA/QC processes.
