Location: Bergen County, New Jersey

Projects: Single and Multifamily Residential Wood frame Buildings


Position Overview

A growing construction firm is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee daily field operations across multiple active job sites. This role is responsible for managing self-perform work, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety and quality standards, maintaining schedules, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and professionally.

This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of site execution, and enjoys being part of a collaborative, growth-oriented organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly subcontractor meetings and site coordination efforts
  • Execute and maintain construction schedules in partnership with project management
  • Track field progress against budgets and timelines
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries
  • Perform regular site walks to verify quality, productivity, and safety compliance
  • Lead daily safety meetings and ensure proper documentation is maintained
  • Supervise foremen, field staff, and subcontractor crews
  • Coordinate work activities across multiple site teams when required
  • Manage punch list completion and closeout efforts
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and field logs
  • Serve as a primary on-site contact for internal teams and external partners
  • Identify potential conflicts or delays and resolve them proactively
  • Ensure all personnel have proper training and safety equipment


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a Superintendent or field leadership role
  • Background in ground-up vertical construction (preferably wood/stick frame residential experience)
  • Exposure to self-perform scopes, preferably site or concrete work
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents and details
  • Solid knowledge of building methods, sequencing, and code compliance
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage changing site conditions
  • Comfortable using scheduling and field management software
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed
