PRODUCTION REWORK OPERATOR
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position is responsible for reworking product with quality issues to ensure all material leaving the facility meets required quality specifications. The role includes stacking, cutting to length, re-wrapping product, and handling material using forklifts, cranes, and saws. This position supports production, quality, and shipping operations while working both indoors and outdoors.
DUTIES:
- Rework finished or semi-finished product to correct quality or dimensional issues
- Cut product down to correct lengths per work orders and customer specifications
- Stack, band, and re-wrap product for storage or shipment
- Perform visual and physical inspection of product quality, dimensions, and condition
- Operate overhead cranes to move, stage, and position material
- Operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport material within the facility and yard
- Operate saws and cutting equipment in a safe and accurate manner
- Stage material for rework, inspection, or shipment
- Ensures that any task performed within the work cell is completed in accordance with written Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Clearly identify, segregate, and label nonconforming and reworked material
- Work collaboratively with production and quality team members to meet shipping and quality requirements
- Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to read measurements and follow work instructions
- Mechanically inclined
- Experience handling hand and power tools
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts, cranes, and saws
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Inside and outside work, warm temperatures in summer, and cold temperatures in the winter.
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature variations, dust, and industrial conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8–10 hour shifts)
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching
- Regular use of hands for gripping, handling, and operating tools and equipment
- Ability to reach above shoulders and below waist level
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver equipment and components
LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly lift and carry materials up to 40 lbs
- Occasionally lift and move materials up to 100 lbs (team lift or mechanical assistance as needed)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools
- Ability to operate forklift
- Sufficient vision (corrected if necessary) to read instructions, gauges, and equipment indicators
- Ability to hear and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal communication in a production environment
