Under direct supervision, the Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant is responsible for receiving and posting payments, reviewing ledgers, and correcting discrepancies to ensure accounts are accurate and properly stated. This role supports the Finance team by maintaining detailed records, assisting with reconciliations, and contributing to the overall accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- 4-year degree in accounting (or 2-year degree with one to two years of relevant experience).
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, particularly with multi-entity, multi-bank account company.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel.
- Experience working within an ERP system.
- Strong math, typing, 10-key, computer skills.
- Must pass background check, to include criminal history and ability to be bonded.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Post monthly subsidy and rent charges.
- Update lease charges in Yardi from NOCs.
- Post receipts to appropriate entity account(s).
- Prepare receipts for bank deposit.
- Deposit checks and post entries for check deposits.
- Post monthly late fees.
- Prepare monthly demand letters for use by PM.
- Print and mail out maintenance notice letters.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies by Reviewing ZDR, subsidy suspense, and GPRI.
- Make ledger adjustments.
- Respond to any inquiries.
- Assist with bank reconciliation issues.
- Process any refunds/return of funds.
- Assist with bad debts/write offs, to include accounts turned over to collections.
- Obtain information from other departments to ensure records are accurate and complete.
- Generate reports/metrics for internal use.
- Manage related accounts receivable functions.
- Other accounting-related tasks, as delegated.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands:
This position works in an office setting and is primarily sedentary, requiring the individual to sit for 8 or more hours per day. Work involves frequent use of hands and eyes for computer operation, data entry, and office equipment; vision to read, record, and interpret information; and verbal and auditory abilities to communicate with employees, vendors, and residents. The role may occasionally involve lifting and carrying materials up to 30 pounds, walking short distances, or standing for brief periods. Mental and cognitive demands include attention to detail, accuracy, problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple priorities.
Work Environment:
Work is performed at a desk in a clean, comfortable, and generally quiet office environment, with frequent computer use and regular interaction with staff and community partners. Occasional interruptions and deadlines are part of the work.
