Salary: $58,000 - $61,000/per year

Position Summary
The Grant Writing Associate plays a critical role in securing public and private funding to support CHSofNJ’s programs and strategic priorities. This position is ideal for a strong writer and researcher who thrives in a fast-paced nonprofit environment, is comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and brings experience with government and foundation grants.
Reporting to the Administrative Supervisor of Grants and Program Development, the Grant Writing Associate will support the full grants lifecycle, from research and prospecting through proposal development, submission, and reporting, while maintaining accurate records in CHSofNJ’s CRM and grants management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Prospecting
- Identify, research, and track government, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with CHSofNJ’s programs and mission.
- Monitor funding trends, RFPs, and policy changes affecting public and private grantmaking.
- Maintain a robust pipeline of grant prospects and funding calendars.
Proposal Development & Writing
- Draft clear, compelling, and funder-aligned grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and concept papers.
- Collaborate with program, finance, and leadership teams to gather data, narratives, budgets, and outcomes.
- Ensure proposals meet funder guidelines, compliance requirements, and deadlines.
Grants Management & Reporting
- Assist with post-award reporting, renewals, and compliance documentation.
- Track submissions, awards, reporting deadlines, and outcomes using CRM and grants management systems.
- Support audits and monitoring reviews related to government and foundation grants.
Systems, Organization & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems and shared grant files.
- Support internal communication across departments to ensure grant alignment and readiness.
- Contribute to process improvement and documentation within the Grants & Program Development function.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience writing and supporting government and/or foundation grants
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze funder priorities and eligibility
- Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for detail and clarity
- Experience using CRM systems or grants management platforms
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
Preferred:
- 2+ years of grant writing or grants administration experience in a nonprofit or public sector setting
- Familiarity with human services, early childhood, health, or family-focused programs
- Experience working in complex, dynamic organizations with cross-functional teams
