JOB SUMMARY
Provides assistance to the Executive Director and Assistant Director to contribute to the overall efficiency of Survivor Empowerment Center. Maintains donor/fundraising data base, generates all donor/fundraising reports, mailing lists, and acknowledgement correspondence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Provides clerical support to the Executive Director and Assistant Director as requested.
2.Prepares and mails monthly meeting packets to the Board of Directors, updates Board list as necessary, and prepares Board Orientation binders for new members.
3.Assists with completing grant applications and year end reports as requested.
4.Coordinates printing of bulk mailings, and corrects/updates mailing list as needed in cooperation with the Development Specialist and with input from the Executive Director.
5.Updates networking agreements annually.
6.Maintains donor/fundraising database and generates all acknowledgement correspondence.
7.Helps the Development Specialist with mailings and assists at fundraising events.
8.Provides clerical support to staff if time allows and the Executive Director approves.
9.Performs other related duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years previous secretarial experience required
• Knowledge of various computer programs (Windows operating systems, Microsoft
Office, Internet, and database systems)
• Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those
issues preferred
• Knowledge of basic office equipment (copier, adding machine, fax, etc.)
• Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give
attention to detail
• Skills in basic administrative duties including typing and filing
• Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
• Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently-abled
• Ability to deal with stress-related situations
• Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork
• Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• A demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous
volunteer work or employment preferred
• Willingness to complete the required 64-hours of training for the position within 6-months of employment
• Must have reliable transportation and applicable insurance.
This position requires background checks through DCFS and Illinois State Police.
