Overview
Shriners Children's New England has an opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team.
The position is day shift, Monday - Friday.
The pay range for this position is $19.69 hourly to $29.54 hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.
Responsibilities
Under the leadership of the Outpatient Department Manager and the indirect supervision of Physicians/APPs, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists with the delivery of patient care in the clinic by maintaining clinic flow, obtains routine clinical information on patients/family, provides physical care of the patients, procures and maintains par levels of clinic supplies, and provides light clerical assistance.
Additional Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) tasks include:
- Transcribing of delegated orders into the EMR
- Casting/splint application, maintenance guidance and removal
- Obtaining specimens, including performing venipuncture
Qualifications
Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Ability to sit for certification exam from nationally recognized organization (i.e. American Association for Medical Assistants)
Preferred:
- One to two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
- Associate's degree
- Two years' pediatric care experience
- National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technology
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician
