A day in this role
Morning starts with a quick floor walk through our New Castle, PA shop—checking workstation readiness, confirming material availability, and aligning the schedule to customer milestones. You sync with project managers and engineers to validate drawings, tolerances, and timelines, then brief the team on priorities and safety. Throughout the day, you monitor quality checkpoints, remove bottlenecks, and fine-tune processes to reduce waste. You mentor fabricators on best practices, review performance goals, order materials to keep work moving, and end the shift with metrics on productivity, quality, and safety.
What you'll own
- Oversee all shop operations: scheduling, production throughput, and quality control.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of fabricators with the right training and tools to excel.
- Build and refine efficient fabrication workflows that lift productivity and cut waste.
- Partner closely with project managers and engineers to translate requirements and drawings into executable plans.
- Champion safety—ensure compliance with regulations and maintain a safe, orderly workplace.
- Track inventory and procure materials so work cells stay supplied.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and shop best practices.
What you bring
- Experience in a fabrication shop (or similar) with 3+ years in a management role.
- Deep knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and tools.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, high attention to detail, and clear communication—written and verbal.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in fabrication environments.
- Proficiency with fabrication software and tools.
