An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with ICU specialization to provide exceptional care in a high-acuity neurological intensive care setting. This role focuses on managing patients in a Neuro ICU environment utilizing advanced critical care technologies and protocols.

Location: Naval Anacost Annex, Washington, DC a bustling urban area known for its unique blend of historic sites and vibrant city life. The Naval Anacost Annex offers a dynamic healthcare environment with access to professional development and rich cultural experiences in the nations capital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to patients in a Neuro ICU setting.
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as EVD (External Ventricular Drain), Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun cooling system, CVVH (Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration), lytic catheter, Flo-tracker, and occasionally PA-catheter.
  • Perform conscious sedation, manage ICP (Intracranial Pressure), and ventilator support.
  • Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity, including other ICUs or Intermediate Care Units (IMC).
  • Adhere to facility policies including mandatory influenza vaccination.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license pending for DC acceptable at application; valid DC licensure required before start date.
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; new travelers encouraged to apply.
  • Certification requirements: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and ACLS (required); CCRN preferred.
  • Proven skills in conscious sedation, ICP management, and ventilator care.
  • Preferred: Level 1 trauma experience, pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy.
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms.

Schedule:

  • Primarily day shifts, 3x12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.
  • Night shifts up to two weeks within a six-week schedule.
  • No call requirements; rotating evening, day, and night shifts as needed, including holidays.
