Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Machinist, where you will play a pivotal role in operating various machines and ensuring the precision of parts produced. This position offers flexibility in set-up requirements, allowing you to focus on operating mills and lathes, primarily using Mazaks, Mazatrol, and mill and lathe combination machines. You will also work with other machinery such as waterjets, horizontal grinders, omni lathes, and honing machines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines and read blueprints to ensure accurate production.
  • Utilize measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality.
  • Perform machine set-up for certain roles, including loading programs and parts, and ensuring machines are dialed in correctly.
  • Inspect first pieces and collaborate with team leads, techs, or quality control for approval.
  • Maintain performance metrics for run time and hourly output, receiving support and training as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team leads to address any issues.
  • Complete and set up multiple work orders daily, potentially handling up to 5-6 orders.
  • Monitor tool wear, replace tools, and adjust dimensions as needed to minimize scrap.
  • Operate machines using G&M code and fanuc controls, primarily on 3-4 axis mills and lathes.
  • Maintain tolerances between +/- .2 and +/- .0005 while working with steel and aluminum.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of CNC experience and set-up expertise.
  • Proficiency in using standard measuring tools like micrometers, drop gauges, and indicators.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and dimensions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CMM experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Attention to detail, attitude, aptitude, and attendance are crucial.

Work Environment

Work in a clean and organized shop floor with 160 colleagues, within a facility hosting 200 employees in total. The position is primarily on the 1st shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with all training conducted during this shift. Some flexibility in shifts may be possible based on business needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
