Primary Purpose of the Job:
Coordinate and lead the Plant’s environmental programs and efforts in order to keep the facility in full compliance with the environmental regulations and permits at all times. This includes but is not limited to air permitting, land application and waste water pretreatment programs.
Directly responsible for food safety and quality by ensuring, equipment and facilities, training and education of all employees, reviewing and auditing performance, and driving continuous improvement.
Job Duties:
· Elaborate and supervise the annual environmental plan for the Plant.
· Elaborate and control the annual budget for the WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plant). Help the Plant Superintendent to elaborate the annual Environmental Budget.
· Keep updated the environmental permits and coordinate activities with all areas of the plant to comply with the proper environmental regulations and permit requirements. This includes but is not limited to Title V, Air Permit, Waste Water discharge permit, Storm Water permit, Hazardous Materials permit and control & Land Application permit.
· Do environmental self inspections in the Plant to make sure that the facility is in compliance with the permits.
· Coordinate the activities needed to be done for environmental permits modifications.
· Coordinate and schedule the proper environmental tests required in the permits, to be done internally or by a contractor.
· Elaborate the annual emissions inventory and submit report to IDEM.
· Elaborate and submit the environmental reports as required by the environmental permits.
· Manage overall operation of the WWTP.
· Daily review of the operations at the WWTP. Supervise the lab tests for WWTP.
· Hire, develop and train the employees at the WWTP.
· Supervise the employees at WWTP.
· Lead the Quality and Safety Programs in the WWTP.
· Develop and implement procedures and work instructions in the WWTP.
Required Skills/Education:
· Able to read, speak and write in English. Knowledge of the Spanish language, in addition, is a plus.
· Knowledge of basic hydraulics, pumps, mechanics, chemistry and physics.
· Maintain a Class B Industrial Wastewater license or higher.
· Computer literate. Able to work with Microsoft Software: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency or minimum 5 years of experience in the Environmental field.
