TPAPT's Chattanooga, Tennessee Chapter specializes in 1-on-1 tutoring and small-group workshops for high school students preparing for the SAT and ACT. The business is built on the following measurable student outcomes:

  • 150-200+ point average improvement on the SAT for 1-on-1 students
  • 100% of students improve from pre-assessment to actual test score

The business is expanding and is bringing on a contracted tutor to support growing demand.

Position Overview

Position: Test Prep Tutor (SAT & ACT)

Classification: Independent contractor (1099)

Hours: Up to 10 hours/week to start; scaling to 20+ hours as the business grows

Compensation: $50–$75/hour, based on experience and skill level

Format: Hybrid — in-person or remote, at the tutor's preference

Location: Chattanooga, TN preferred; up to ~2-hour drive radius (Atlanta, Nashville, Huntsville, and surrounding areas all qualify)

Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-on-1 SAT and ACT tutoring sessions covering all sections of both tests, including ACT science
  • Use diagnostic data and practice test results to build personalized session plans for each student
  • Track student progress and adjust instruction based on performance
  • Communicate with parents as needed regarding progress, next steps, and test logistics
  • Represent us professionally and uphold the brand's results-driven standard

Required Qualifications

  • Strong recent SAT and/or ACT scores — most recent score reports required as part of the application
  • Confidence teaching all sections of both tests, including ACT science
  • Located within approximately a 2-hour drive of Chattanooga, TN
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both students and parents
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage an independent schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience, particularly in standardized test prep
  • Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress at a strong program)
  • Comfort with the College Board's Bluebook app and standard digital tools

  • All study materials and assignments are provided — tutors do not need to source curriculum
  • Start date: flexible; ideally as soon as a strong candidate is identified
  • Travel reimbursement for in-person sessions outside Chattanooga: open to discussion on a case-by-case basis
