Impact

As a Safety Specialist for the Cooling, Power & Connectivity division, you will serve as a key advisor and subject-matter expert supporting HVAC, Generator, UPS, Field Engineering, and Tower operations. This position requires independent judgment in conducting incident investigations, developing safety procedures, designing training content, and making recommendations that directly impact operational safety and regulatory compliance.

You will partner closely with operational leaders to evaluate risk, influence decisions, and lead improvements in electrical safety and vehicle safety performance. Field engagement is combined with strategic responsibility for improving the division's overall safety program.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead incident investigations (injuries, vehicle collisions, near misses), perform root cause analyses, and determine corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and delivering safety training programs (LOTO, NFPA 70E, electrical safety, energized work, defensive driving, incident prevention).
  • Develop, revise, and implement safety procedures, programs, and checklists across multiple service lines based on risk assessments, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.
  • Analyze leading and lagging indicators (TRIR, DART, PVIR, vehicle telematics, electrical exposure data) to identify trends and recommend program improvements.
  • Exercise discretion in field evaluations, recommending hazard controls, operational adjustments, and escalation when conditions present unacceptable risk.
  • Lead improvements to the driver safety program, including telematics analysis, behavioral coaching, and vehicle standards.
  • Consult with operations leadership, providing expert recommendations on hazard mitigation, regulatory compliance, and safety strategy.
  • Prepare and present reports and program recommendations to leaders and stakeholders.
  • Conduct routine field observations and audits.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and participate in safety meetings.
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and safety communications.
  • Support regulatory inspections or customer audits.

Core Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in field safety or safety coordination roles within HVAC, Generator, Tower, or Field Engineering environments.
  • Technical Knowledge: Electrical safety, LOTO, NFPA 70E, confined space, defensive driving, and driver safety best practices.
  • Judgment & Influence: Ability to exercise independent discretion in investigations, training design, and program improvements.
  • Regulatory Expertise: OSHA, EPA, DOT; Cal/OSHA preferred.
  • Organization: Ability to independently prioritize workload, manage multiple initiatives, and conduct autonomous fieldwork.
  • Preferred Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, CHST, CSHO, or ASP.
  • Eastern Time Zone

Base Pay Range$70,000—$90,000 USD
