A growing 503A compounding pharmacy in Tempe, AZ, is seeking a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with active and clear CA and AZ pharmacist licenses. This role offers a valuable opportunity for newer pharmacists to gain experience and receive training in pharmacy operations and non-sterile compounding. The position begins as a contract-to-hire with the potential for permanent placement.
Location: Tempe, AZ
Schedule: Full Time, 32 hours/week (Monday-Thursday)
Shift: 9 AM – 5 PM (flexible start times available)
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure workflow efficiency, productivity, and compliance with state and federal regulations
- Supervise, mentor, and support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, providing guidance, performance feedback, and ongoing training
- Review, verify, and approve prescription orders for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, and regulatory compliance prior to dispensing
- Ensure adherence to Board of Pharmacy regulations, company policies, quality standards, and documentation requirements
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and workflow to maintain optimal pharmacy operations and service levels
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement operational improvements and maintain high standards of patient care and customer service
- Participate in non-sterile compounding operations as needed; training will be provided
Qualifications:
- Active, clear CA and AZ Pharmacist Licenses – this dual licensure is essential
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a pharmacist; mail order, long-term care, or 503A pharmacy experience preferred
- Non-sterile compounding experience preferred but not required
- Pharmacy management experience is a plus but not required
- Ability and willingness to work full time
